Chris (Hubman) started this business with his wife Rebecca (Chubgirl) in 2018, when he realized if he didn’t seize this opportunity, she was going to do it without him. In just five years, Hubman & Chubgirl transformed their passion for doodling and journaling into a thriving global business. But How?

Initially it was just an Instagram webcomic where Chubgirl share journal spreads and doodles with their loving community. She was a prolific doodler and journaler, who loved documenting their young family’s life online. She was very good at drawing and appreciated the support she received from people who also loved journalling.

Inspiration struck when Hubman had a simple yet brilliant idea – stickers. These peel-and-stick creations allowed followers to effortlessly capture moments in their journals. Without having to put in all the time and effort to make the perfect sketch, they could just speak their hearts out instantly.

So, she started designing and sourcing them from China, and selling them using the Shopify platform. And because of her 600,000 followers on Instagram… people started buying them right away.

Initially, sales were only about $5,000 per month. But they kept going up…and up…and up…and worldwide.
Pretty soon, they were expanding into planners, sticky notes, memo pads, washi tapes. But there’s a problem with exploding sales: You’ve got to fulfill them ON TIME.

Now they’re working late nights and weekends. Pressing family into service. They started hiring staff to help out with demand.
Great problem to have? You bet it is. But it’s still a problem that requires timely attention.

Those exploding sales don’t automatically translate into exploding profits, if you don’t manage the books and accounts properly, and keep the tax authorities happy.

And especially when your products are printed inhouse as well as sourced from China, sold mostly in Europe, while you are in Canada. That brings along the complexity and huge amount of accounting and tax compliance.

It was too much to tackle for Hubman & Chubgirl alone but with us as their companion, their accounting has never been this accurate and rewarding.
