Steps to Download Excel Transactions from Your Upwork Client Account

If you use Upwork to hire freelancers, downloading your transaction records can help you stay on top of your expenses, simplify your books, and keep things smooth at tax time. Here’s how to export your Upwork transactions as a CSV file — perfect for your bookkeeping or sharing with your accountant.

Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1: Log in to Your Upwork Client Account

Step 2: Navigate to Transaction History

From your dashboard, click on Reports in the top menu.
Then select Transaction History from the dropdown.

Step 3: Filter Your Transactions

Use the filters to narrow down your transaction list by date, type, freelancer, or contract.
This helps you focus only on the transactions you actually need.

Step 4: Select Download Options

Look for the Select download dropdown or Download Invoices button.
Choose CSV — it opens easily in Excel and works great for bookkeeping.

Step 5: Download the File

Click to confirm your download.
If your file isn’t too large, the CSV should download right away to your computer’s downloads folder.
For bigger files, Upwork might send a download link to your email — it’s valid for 72 hours.

Step 6: Open and Review Your Transactions

Find the downloaded CSV file on your computer.
Open it in Excel or your preferred spreadsheet program.
Review and save the file for your records or share it with your bookkeeper or accountant.
