Fractional Controller (Bookkeeping/CFO Firm)

  • Transcounts is a fast-growing accounting firm based in Langley, BC. We specialize in outsourced bookkeeping, fractional Controller/CFO, payroll, and tax services to small and mid-sized businesses across Canada and the USA.
  • The Fractional Controller manages 10–20 clients and ensures their Finance & Accounting functions run reliably, accurately, and with excellent customer experience. You’ll oversee delivery quality across bookkeeping, payroll, AP/AR, and monthly reporting, aligning each client’s systems with Transcounts’ tech stack and standards. A full support team (PL, PM, Payroll Manager, AP/AR) will work alongside you so you can stay focused on oversight, quality, insights, and communication.
  • As you grow in the role and consistently manage 20+ monthly clients while maintaining excellent delivery, NPS, and billing upsell metrics, you can progress into the Fractional CFO track. Experience working with eCommerce brands is a strong advantage.
Key Responsibilities:
Team Collaboration
  • Work closely with PMs, PLs, AP/AR, and Payroll Manager to ensure accurate and timely delivery.
  • Ensure client tech stack alignment (QBO/Xero, A2X, Dext, Payroll tools) in collaboration with the internal team.
  • Identify risks, scope creep, and upsell opportunities and coordinate with AE/HoG when required.
Customer Experience & Delivery
  • Own the monthly accounting cycle end-to-end, including reconciliations, reviews, and reporting.
  • Deliver clear, visual, insight-driven management reports aligned with Transcounts standards.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for clients and external stakeholders (CRA/IRS, tax accountants, auditors).
  • Handle CRA/IRS reviews, sales tax, payroll tax, and compliance matters independently.
Onboarding
  • Own onboarding of new clients, including tech stack setup, workflow alignment, and initial cleanup/catch-up planning.
  • Ensure new clients are brought to Transcounts standards quickly and with zero-miss compliance.
Internal Rhythm
  • Maintain monthly reporting cadence, compliance calendars, and deadline discipline.
  • Participate in monthly QA reviews and quarterly process improvement cycles.
Must have (skills, requirements, and knowledge):
  • Hybrid/On-site at Langley, BC (200 St / 56 Ave)
  • CPA or equivalent
  • CRA Rep Account & Ability to handle CRA/IRS reviews independently
  • Worked in Public Practice for a minimum of 2+ years - preferably for a Fractional CFO/Controller/BIG-4s.
  • Must have been in Canada for the past 2+ years.
  • QBO/XERO/NetSuite/Payworks experience for 2+ years.
  • Canada/USA Payroll Experience & Compliance/Nexus (GST/Sales-tax, WCB, EHT) experience for 1+ year.
  • Emotional toughness & interpersonal skills to resolve external dependencies, able to handle demanding clients, government requests, and operational pressure. Strong communication and conflict-resolution ability.
  • Must have independently owned a month-end close (w/visual management reports) for at least 10+ entities.
  • Ecommerce - Amazon, Shopify, A2X, inventory, COGS, multi-channel - (Strongly Preferred)
  • Tech-Savvy (automation mindset) - AI/automation tools, managing client tech stacks, implementing process improvements
  • Ability to meet strict deadlines, Zero-miss compliance, Monthly reporting deadlines, Filing calendars

The Interview Process:

  • 20-minute phone screening with HR.
  • 30-minute Virtual Interview with Anmol Singh (Director of Operations).
  • Final Round of interview with Aman Mittal (CEO & Founder) onsite in Langley, BC.
